Resume.pdf

This past summer, I interned as a Data Engineer at Safran Passenger Innovations in Brea, California. Working within the business intelligence team provided insight into the challenges of restructuring an MDM to accommodate both the scale of a growing enterprise and a range of stakeholder needs. In this role, I strengthened my ability to collaborate cross-functionally, refined my project management and Python scripting skills, and gained a fundamental understanding of the ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) process. The most resonant lesson from this internship is that communication, without meeting your consumer/audience where they are (mentally, technically, emotionally, etc), is as impractical as it is futile.

During my latter years at Berkeley, I was on the teaching staff of Principles and Techniques of Data Science as an Undergraduate Student Instructor, and also worked as a grader for Human Contexts and Ethics of Data. My involvement in the development of these courses helped me realize the power and
responsibility that is inherent in understanding the “proper” process of data collection, manipulation, and analysis.

As I consider “what’s next?”, the truthful answer is: I don’t (fully) know. I am not set on acquiring a specific job title nor have I fixed my mind on any particular domain. However, I would love to work at the intersection of data and people, engaging in data-driven initiatives whose insights can be integrated into human-centric strategies and solutions. I am seeking experiences that will help nurture professional and personal growth by allowing me to apply my current knowledge and transform my ‘weaknesses’ into strengths. While there is uncertainty of when/where I will work next, I feel at peace knowing that my open mind and commitment to being myself — curious, thoughtful, proactive, resilient, optimistic (realistic) — will bring the right opportunity.
